Educational Programs
The Write it Right programs are suitable for Primary & High Schools
Write It Right is an engaging cultural education program designed for Primary and High School students. Developed by Murrook’s Culture, Heritage & Education team, Gudida, the program helps students build a stronger understanding of Aboriginal culture, identity and connection to Country through meaningful learning experiences.
Delivered by knowledgeable local Aboriginal educators, Write It Right combines classroom learning with hands-on cultural experiences. The program encourages curiosity, respect and deeper awareness while supporting students to explore culture in a safe and engaging environment.
The program runs across the school term and includes a series of structured sessions that blend in-school learning with on Country experiences. Through workshops, discussions and excursions, students gain insight into the knowledge, traditions and stories of the Worimi people while developing a stronger connection to culture and community.
Students explore local Dreaming stories, learn about traditional bush resources and discover how Aboriginal knowledge continues to shape life today. These experiences allow young people to engage directly with culture while building understanding and respect for the world’s oldest living culture.
Write It Right is guided by the Four Pillars of Culture, which provide the foundation for learning throughout the program.
Experiences may include:
LAND:
Students explore the deep connection Aboriginal people have with land, learning about custodianship, responsibility and the ongoing relationship between people and Country.
PEOPLE:
Students develop a greater understanding of identity, family and community, exploring how cultural knowledge and connections shape who we are.
LORE & LANGUAGE:
Students learn about Aboriginal lore and are introduced to the Gathang language, building cultural awareness and respect for traditional knowledge systems.
STORIES:
Students engage with Dreaming stories and cultural narratives that share knowledge, history and values passed down through generations.
Through Write It Right, Gudida aims to support cultural understanding, strengthen identity and create meaningful learning opportunities for the next generation.
